One night, two concerts! Look forward to PONK, a post-folklore trio from Brno consisting of violin, cimbalom and double bass, and to CASH SAVAGE, a six-headed musical monster from Melbourne, Australia. The band, well-known for their wild concerts in the best clubs in Australia, captivates the audience with the unmistakable fusion of debauched blues, alternative country, garage rock’n’roll and disarming bluntness of their lyrics!

PONK (20:00)

In 2015, the post-folklore trio released their debut album Postfolklor (Anděl Award, the Czech music award, in the category World Music) on which the Moravian traditional folk songs are arranged in a very innovative way. The band caught the attention of both local and international media, and the album Postfolklor received a lot of enthusiastic reviews, charted in TOP 20 World Music Charts Europe, the songs were played on radio stations Rádio 1, Radio Wave, Proglas, Český rozhlas, Deutschlandradio Kultur, the Hungarian radio station Bártók Rádió and on several radio stations in the USA.

The trio PONK was chosen as one of the Czech representatives for the International Music Conference and the showcase Czech Music Crossroads that took place in July 2016 in Ostrava. Competing with local, Slovak, Polish, and Hungarian music bands, they placed second for the best band voted by the audience as well as the experts.

Ponk was the first band singing in Czech to be ever nominated by the international jury to perform on the prestigious musical trade fair WOMEX – The World Music Expo, which took place in October 2016 in Santiago de Compostela. Ponk performed in front of the press, scouts, festival and record company representatives from the entire world. That year, they were the only representative from Central Europe and only the third one from the Czech Republic in the history of Womex.

CASH SAVAGE (21:00)

They are a six-headed musical monster from Melbourne, Australia. The band, well-known for their wild concerts in the best clubs in Australia, captivates the audience with the unmistakable fusion of debauched blues, alternative country, garage rock’n’roll and disarming bluntness of their lyrics!

Cash Savage and The Last Drinks burst on the scene in 2011 and quickly became part of the best Australian festivals, like Meredith Music Festival, Deni Blues, Roots and Wave Rock WA or the Australian World Music Expo. However, Cash alone had been touring Australia with a guitar since 2009. Meanwhile, the band’s reputation had crossed the ocean and in 2015, Cash Savage and The Last Drinks had their first European tour. Among others, they even performed at Colours of Ostrava and their performance was appreciated especially by the director of the festival Colours, Zlata Holušová.

Ecstatic rises and devastating falls of 2015 lead to “One Of Us”, the third and so far the last album by Cash Savage. It includes the band’s marriages, the European tour and the loss of some close friends and family members. After a long period of being under the influence of these emotional events and writing lyrics, Cash Savage headed to the studio, turned it up full blast and started to compose tracks for the new album. “One Of Us” was again produced by Nick Finch from Graveyard Train, and it was released in July 2016 by Mistletone Records. The album follows the previous, critically acclaimed album “The Hypnotiser” and presents an amazing collection of stylishly played dark blues country that made the band famous.
