The Best Festival of Dance, Circus and Physical Theatre is Here!

The second edition of the international festival has arrived. This year we will see more international artists and performances, for the first time we have invited a true skandinavian circus. The topic is the hunting season - hunt your ticket now!

The second edition of the international festival has arrived. This year we will see more international artists and performances, for the first time we have invited a true skandinavian circus. The topic is the hunting season – hunt your ticket now!

The festival starts on Friday, 20th of May by the performance called The Hunting Season of a Slovak choreographer and dancer Milan Tomasik , who lives and works for ten years in Ljubljana, Slovenia. As well as for all the other performances, it is an Ostrava premiere.

The part of the program for this year leavs the home stage of the Cooltour Cultural Center, as for the “O” (O as Schlemmer ) Reloaded is to be performed in a so far secret location. The piece premiered on thursday 21st is inspired by the Bauhaus movement and a distinct personality of Oskar Schlemmer. It is visually and technically very beautiful dance performance. For you to see it, you need to meet us at Kuri rynek (Jiraskovo square) by 19:00 hours and then together we will discover an interesting space in the center.

A so to say desert of the festival is definitelly a Czech premiere of Lenka Vagnerova performance Dark Horse on 23rd of May. The performance was created by the Swedish dance company Norrdans, where Lenka currently works and produces. This performance will be performend only for our festival – after it the company returns back to Sweden.

The new circus will visit us from the far away Finland. On Friday – 22nd – the guys from Sirkus Aikamoinen will fly though the air in performance Onnelisten Maa (The Land of the Happy). When they do not exactly fly, they play the instruments.

The physical theatre piece The Women is produces by well known czech director Adela Lastuvkova Stodolova and SKUTR. What are the lives of women like in today’s world? Well, women are hunters. And what do they do when they feel too much pressure? They bottle fruit.

The festival however is not only about the performances. We also have a huge program – parties, workshops, discussions or screenings – Alexander Ekman’s Swan Lake.
