Clarinet Factory & Grunik

Quartet of amazing clarinet players mixing popular and classical music, jazz, world music, electro and crossover projects. “They are truly original, unique and awesome”, those are the words of renowned American publicist and producer Gerald Seligman. Featuring folk ensemble Grunik from Beskydy who guested on the album Meadows.

The beginnings of the four-piece band Clarinet Factory, which in 2014 celebrated its 20th anniversary, go back to the university years of all the band members at Prague’s AMU. Back then the main focus of quartet Jindřich Pavliš, Vojtěch Nýdl, Luděk Boura and Petr “Pepíno” Valášek was interpretation of classical music and jazz. But soon Clarinet Factory moved towards experimenting through various music genres, from arranging to composing, to the desire to communicate independently upon genres or generational groups.

Quartet worked with Lenka Dusilová and Beata Hlavenková, intermedia artist Petr Nikl or legendary percussionist Alan Vitouš.

Apart from those already mentioned above during their career Clarinet Factory also worked with Bobby McFerrin, Jana Koubková, Brno Philharmonic Orchestra, Prague Philharmonia, Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, Radio Fišarová, Iva Bittová, as well as with Tata Boss and Joe Acheson from Hidden Orchestra.

Among other Clarinet Factory career highlights you can find movie soundtracks Hidden Things, Long Live the Family (Rodina je základ státu, 2011), Murderous Tales – part Lighthouse (Smrtelné historky – část Maják, 2016), in 2005 their song Orlík won at the prestigious International Songwriting Competition in Nashville (USA), and they also played at various music festivals such as Strings of Autumn International Music Festival (CZ), Colours of Ostrava (CZ), International Jazz Festival Praha (CZ) and Jazz Lent Maribor (SLO), Sofia Jazz Peak Festival (BG), Mitte Europa (GER), Inalfa Festival (NL), Red Sea Jazz Festival (IL) and others.

Since 2014 Clarinet Factory also regularly performs with dance company VerTeDance in their common project Korekce, which is very successful, getting great reviews throughout the whole Europe and since its beginning it has won many prestigious awards (CENA ČESKÁ DIVADELNÍ DNA 2016, TANEČNÍ INSCENACE ROKU 2014 / HERALD ANGEL AWARD 2015 / MESS FESTIVAL AWARD 2015 …).
